Community Guidelines

launchSITE is an online digital marketing platform that focuses on education and networking to help your business. Being a part of launchSITE necessitates a sense of social responsibility with individual community members and businesses.

launchSITE is an education and intelligence platform and a hub for like-minded individuals who all want their businesses and communities  to grow in the digital world.

As a valued member of the community you deserve respect and you deserve to be treated with dignity. This of course means that the other members of the community deserve the exact same treatment. These guidelines outline what is and is not appropriate conduct to engage in while using launchSITE. These guidelines, along with good old fashioned common sense, are here to help guide you on the path of success to the stars and beyond. So if you’re cool with that, we’re cool with you!

We get it, we’re all humans and sometimes we might make mistakes and break a rule or two. That being said, any intentional breaking of the launchSITE rules and guidelines can result in a quick dismissal from the community. No ifs, ands, or buts.

Basically, do not pass Go! Do not collect 200 dollars! Buh-bye!

1. Follow the Golden Rule of the Cosmos.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Be kind, be honest, be polite and be courteous. Each and every member of our community is valued and is important.  It is also important to understand that each and every member has a different background, knowledge base and understanding of a complex business landscape that is rapidly changing.

We think Mr. Rogers always said it best. “There are three ways to ultimate success: The first way is to be kind. The second way is to be kind. The third way is to be kind.”

Kindness rocks! You should too!

2. Share information and work together.

launchSITE is about learning, sharing and growing. If you have information, tips, tricks or traps that have helped your business thrive, then we want to hear all about them. We are of the belief that if we all work together then we will all grow together.

You are encouraged to share helpful information that you have. If it is your original content then that is great. If it is something that someone else created, give props where it’s due and cite where you got it from.

3. Operate with honesty and integrity. Always.

launchSITE was built to demystify the woes of cyberspace and to simplify complex operations in an online world. It is of the utmost importance that everyone who joins our community is honest, helpful and respectful. Any posts or information that are intentionally misleading, factually incorrect, or designed to mislead others in the community have no place here. Yoda, the famous Jedi Master reminds us that, “Anger, fear, aggression. The dark side are they. Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny.”

Anyone found willfully and knowingly engaging in the spread and dissemination of deceiving information will have the content removed and, depending on the severity, will be banned from the site.

4. There’s a time and place for religion and political discussions. It’s not on launchSITE.

At launchSITE we respect you, your religious beliefs and your political opinions, but please understand that they do not have any place here and will not be tolerated in any way.

Both religion and politics have a place in society and in our everyday lives. Those places include but are not limited to voting booths, protests, churches, mosques, temples, alters to Crom and shrines to the great Spaghetti Monster in the sky. They do not however include launchSITE.

Religion and politics are very sensitive subjects and inspire a great deal of passion in people. That passion often times has a way of becoming misdirected, misunderstood, and hurtful. For this reason, discussion or posts related to religion or politics are banned.

5. Keep conversations polite and relevant.

Everything has a place, and there is a place for everything at launchSITE. When using our social networking platform please make sure that you stay in your lane and that you stay on topic. Please remember to always engage in solution-oriented dialogue that is meant to help and not hinder or discourage people. Keep in mind that launchSITE was built to help people from all walks of life and in all different kinds of businesses. Not everyone has the same experiences or skill sets. We are here to build each other up and not tear each other down.

6. Be mindful of others.

Should a problem arise in forums or group chats between members please remember to handle all conflicts through polite civil discussion. You should avoid hurtful or hateful language at all times and always respect the privacy and rights of other members.

Remember, “A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense, never for attack.”

If someone is being hurtful or disrespectful to you then you should report the problem to launchSITE administration instead of engaging in the same behavior. Under no circumstances should anyone air personal grievances through launchSITE or engage in smear campaigns against a fellow member or anyone else. If you can’t respect this rule, then the launchSITE isn’t the place for you.

7. Don’t mine, steal or scrape data.

One of the world’s greatest sketch comedy groups, Monty Python once did a skit on their TV show about a guy who hated SPAM [the canned meat]. In the skit he went into a restaurant and the only thing they served was SPAM—hilarity ensued. What isn’t funny is web SPAM.  In fact it is undignified, annoying and usually makes people want to do the opposite of what the SPAM was intended to do.

For a better understanding of the boundaries of this guideline, we wrote you a Dr. Suess-esque poem:

SPAM: It’s so trite!

Don’t do it in the forums,
Don’t do it in the virtual street,
Don’t do it online,
Don’t do it to the people that you meet,
Don’t do it by email,
Unless of course you want your business to fail…
And also, you will get booted out of launchSITE.

8. Use your real name.

Let’s be real. Building a community is about honesty and integrity. That all starts with a name—your name.  Members are required to use their real names when using launchSITE. This helps to promote you, your business and your reputation. Just save your fake name for your AIM account.

9. Pick a profile image that shows off your good side.

At launchSITE you can feel free to use any image to represent yourself or your company that you want to use as long as you own the rights to use it and it is not offensive or profane.  This could be your company logo, a picture of you or even a picture you took of something else that is unrelated to your business. Under no circumstances should you use a picture that contains potentially offensive, derogatory, profane, explicit or hurtful content to other people in the community.

10. Follow through with plans and commitments.

It is highly encouraged that all members try to reach out and help other members when they are able. You should also make good on your commitments to other members.

The launchSITE community is not just online. It is a growing network of hard working people, ideas and businesses that make a real impact on the world around us. Just like everything else in life,  what you put into it is what you will get out of it.

launchSITE was built to help other hard working like-minded people achieve their goals and give back to the community. Thus it is especially important to do what you say and say what you are going to do.

11. Speak and act within the legal limit.

The launchSITE community was built to help people, not hurt them. Everyone’s privacy, safety and well being are our priority.

If you see it, or suspect it, report it: It is the member’s responsibility to timely disclose criminal, fraudulent or suspicious activity to launchSITE administration should they suspect it is occuring. Any activity that you report will of course be kept anonymous.

Of those items that should be reported if broken, but not limited to, include the following:

  • Do not buy, sell, solicit or give away illegal or regulated goods and services through launchSITE.
  • Do not post others’ personal information on launchSITE.
  • Do not create, promote, or encourage web SPAM of any canned shape.
12. Promote your business ethically. Even better, just be ethical!

The great philosopher Emannuel Kant espoused that ethics should be based on your intentions, and that people should always be treated as an end, not a means to an end. In plain modern English that means that we should always try to do right by others at every opportunity we get.

At launchSITE, there is no room for unethical treatment of other people or other businesses. It is ok to disagree, but it is not ok to lash out, steal ideas or mistreat others. There is too much hate and negativity in the world as it is, we do not need any more. If you play nice, be respectful and be honest then we will all thrive together.

13. Be receptive and respectful of feedback.

The truth hurts sometimes, but is an essential element for positive growth.

Like when you go out on a date with an amazing person and you think it went well, that is until your roommate tells you how bad your breath stinks after the fact. No wonder they said no to that kiss!  While no one wants to hear that they are smelling funky, that information is incredibly useful for moving forward in the future, even if you are slightly irritated when you hear it at first. Feedback from others is how we learn to do better and be better. Bad reviews and feedback addressing negative issues aren’t the end of the world. They are honestly more important than a raving review, because it gives  you an opportunity to reflect, pivot, and grow, if given and taken in the spirit of constructive criticism.

Members are encouraged to take all criticism and feedback seriously, address it and above all else, be polite, be respectful and be kind. Remember, the launchSITE community is one of guidance and support.

14. Participate in and support community initiatives.

Beyond launchSITE being a community that is dedicated to helping businesses grow, it is also a community that strives to make the world around us a better place to live in. launchSITE from time to time will have community initiatives that go to help the environment, animals, people and various other charitable causes.

Many of the charitable causes we support include launchSITE members and their efforts: nonprofit organizations, fundraisers, events, advertising and social media campaigns. The more participation in these campaigns by members the more good we can all do to help the world around us.  It’s true what the author Kamand Kojouri said. “The only path wide enough for us all is love.”

15. Share Relevant Content.

The more content on launchSITE the better, but it needs to be the right content.  It is a creative place and the flow of ideas and information in it is vital for your success and it is encouraged! That being said, if your not comfortable with your mother seeing it you probably shouldn’t post it on launchSITE. In general, make sure that all posts are relevant and not offensive , racist or belittling others.

Now let’s go paint some happy trees and rocket together.
